Tahini Toast

This might be the most simple, delicious recipe - well I might be biased,  BUT regardless I'm pretty sure you're going to love it! I'm a huge nut butter fan, almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter, you name it. Recently, I found myself in a little rut with my nut butters and felt like experimenting outside those yummy jars. I began skimming the web for nut butter substitutes, which lead me to the seed family, which lead me to tahini paste! According to this MindBodyGreen article, tahini reaps benefits:

It has calcium! 
It’s rich in minerals.
It contains a good source of Methionine, which helps in our liver detoxification.
It helps to promote healthy cell growth.
It aids in anemia prevention.
It helps maintain healthy skin and muscle tone.
It has 20% complete protein, making it a higher protein source than most nuts. 
It's high alkaline mineral content, which is easy for your body to digest.
It is high in the good, unsaturated fat.

Basically, I've been missing out and decided to make a sweetie out of tahini :)

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon of organic tahini (I used the Kevala brand, which can be bought here)

  • 1 teaspoon of cacao nibs

  • Organic, local honey

  • 1 slice of sprouted whole grain bread (Ezekial is my go-to!)

  • Cinnamon (optional)

  • Side of fruit of your choice

Directions:

  • Put your slice of bread into your toaster

  • Lather your tablespoon of tahini right onto your bread right after it pops out of the toaster

  • Drizzle the honey and sprinkle the yummy cacao nibs on top

  • Finish it off with a dash of cinnamon
